Champions Biotechnology offers the benefits of its Preclinical Platform to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Preclinical studies using Biomerk Tumorgrafts™ have been shown to be predictive of how drugs perform in clinical settings. To demonstrate their predictability, Biomerk Tumorgrafts have been tested with chemotherapeutic drugs and the results correlated directly with the actual results and positive outcomes in patients. These results may be critical in appropriately designing Phase I and Phase II clinical trials.

Tumor specimens are being used to develop lung, pancreatic, sarcoma, colon, head & neck, rare and pediatric Tumorgrafts, among others. Champions will provide key characterization data to enable selection of the optimal Tumorgrafts for each drug evaluation.

An additional benefit of Champions’ Preclinical Platform is that the in vivo models may be used to integrate drug screening with biomarker discovery. Champions tumor specific database may facilitate the discovery of biomarkers and the development of companion diagnostic tests through third party collaborations with leading diagnostic companies. Companion diagnostic tests offer the potential to identify the specific patients that are most likely to benefit from each drug or drug combination. This may yield a drug development plan that is faster and less expensive while providing an improved likelihood of regulatory and market success.

Champions’ Preclinical Platform may enable companies to assign and enhance the value of novel oncology drug candidates. Promising drugs that failed traditional studies as well as marketed drugs may also benefit by evaluating new, targeted applications, either alone or as novel drug combinations.
